How will the Transit of Venus this June 5 and 6 affect us?

On June 5^th and 6^th this year there will be a Venus Transit, as it passes in front of the Sun.  The rare cosmic event when planet Venus traverses the solar disk marks the completion of an 8-year cycle of the Return of the Goddess, which began with a previous Venus Transit back in the year 2004.  Not only that, the day before, June 4^th, will also witness a lunar eclipse!
