Spotted Brown and White Flannel Skirt

I recently handmade, literally with tiny little hand stitches, this brown and white spotted flannel skirt, along with a matching muffler scarf...
Brown leather linked silver hearts trachten belt
Brown vest and white edelweiss bag
Brown and turquoise buckle concha belt
the ensemble will be perfect with a brown sleeveless knit top...
and of course with a brown sweatshirt...
this millefiore flower top...
with a brown medalion print top...
with a Tibetan style striped jumper / sweater knitted earlier...

I recently saw a charming brown and white polka dot dress with pintucking at the bodice at a thrift store which I could've bought for $5 but got talked out of it with a harsh statement from a family member: "yuck, put that back! Looks like something the dog threw up!"

Long story short, I didn't get it. Being shamed into putting the brown and white spotted dress back, which in hindsight, would've made a GREAT flared skirt with an elasticized waist. All I had to do was remove the zipper, cut the dress at the waist and create a waistband with hand stitching - no sewing machine needed at all - and stick in a length of elastic!

Three weeks later I go back to that thriftstore and I find the brown polka dot dress shoved, out of place, among the racks! Here it is...

The leopard fur coat finally arrives...

Just got the faux leopard coat and to be honest, I'm just starting to get used to it. It actually turned out to be quite different to the photo on the auction site.

I'll admit that the bright orchid purple lining is just a little over the top as they say but that wasn't the major eye-opener...

The coat was meant to be a roomy "large" as coats should be to accommodate your winter outfit underneath, but it's a bit more fitted in reality.

That means that only very fitted sweaters can be worn with the fitted cut of the coat, which will probably not be buttoned.

I was not expecting the coat to have buttons either but as it turns out, there are Champaign colored buttons.

Since the description to the coat described it as "gorgeous and fluffy" and other very flattering descriptives, I was a bit disappointed when it arrived with a few stains, which I tried to clean with a damp paper towel with some success.

Luckily, the leopard design hides stains well!

Still getting used to it but I think I like having it hanging around even though it's not purrfect... ;-D

My black lace mock turtleneck top Steve Jobs style!

I was going through the racks of one of the thrift stores I frequent and found this rather interesting lace beige and black mock turtleneck top that reminded me of Apple's Steve Jobs...
and here's the former Apple CEO Steve Jobs in his famous black mock turtleneck shirt...

Steve Jobs may have started out wearing suits and ties but eventually established his own unique style with mock turtleneck shirts worn mostly in black.

Apparently, his favorite brand was St. Croix. St Croix's sales for the mock turtleneck that Jobs favored have also doubled since his passing, with the shirt literally flying off the shelves!

It appears that people are paying their tribute to Steve Jobs by donning the much loved mock turtleneck themselves.

Well, here's my very own tribute to the Apple Computer founder, albeit in lace!

OTT Leopard Remix Outfit

Okay, this outfit with leopard elements teamed with my lipstick pink jeans and denim duster is only meant to tide me over until my recently purchased LEOPARD COAT arrives...

This leopard print skirt will also do the trick...

Or perhaps this leopard slinky top...

and definitely this pair of leopard diva sandals, worn with toe socks for autumn of course, until I find the ultimate pair of leopard booties or oxfords that is...
Stay tuned for the leopard coat, on its way from clear across the country and hopefully already in transit...

Found: Leopard Hoodie for 1/2 off!

Well, I went with an objective to find "animal prints" and scored this gorgeous - in great condition - leopard print hoodie at a Metro Atlanta OTP (outside the perimeter, for new arrivals and non-locals!) thrift store. Best part is that it was half off and ended up costing only $2.50! Yes, I'm feeling pretty smug about it too. But I just had to share... hehe...

The leopard hoodie must be worn with either hot pink or red, of course... ;-D
like this coral pink and red roses necklace...
and of course this tortoise shell link necklace...

Fashion inspired by Gustav Klimt?

I was thrifting at a metro Atlanta thrift store and luckily scored this lovely, ultra feminine, jacket top in a chiffon type material inspired by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt and in particular his lovely paintings Tree of Life and The Kiss.
 here are the front...
and the back of this fluttery open blouse. Gorgeous isn't it?
and I'm loving how well it teams with a pale mint green camisole and a bronze necklace that looks straight out of one of Klimt's paintings, perhaps worn by Isis herself!

and his famous painting The Kiss...
Here's my 2008 acrylic on canvas rendition of Klimt in His Garden. Let me know if any of you have found Klimt inspired pieces out there. I'd love to know!

Pink Missoni Style Knit Top

When I go thrifting, I’m always on the lookout for some interesting zig zag patterned knits or perhaps a wave pattern.

I was however able to find a raspberry pink knit top with three-quarter sleeves and a scoop neck. The other three I put back because they had far too many unfixable threads that were pulled.

This pink Missoni style knit top looks predominantly pink and maroon but it actually pretty much has all the colors of the rainbow.

On close inspection, you can see yellow, French blue, seafoam green, brown, cream, red, at least three different shades of pink, gold thread and probably other colors…

How appropriate that with pink being the color for October, I was able to find this lovely top in shades of pink!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I believe this little gem of a find was also fifty per cent off that day – twice the blessing!

Green duffel coat and matching clothes for Fall

I had this green duffel coat which I'd bought at a clothing warehouse pop up shop in Southern California. It's actual a hooded coat and the sleeves have been shortened and elastecized. It should be perfect for that cool autumnal weather, coming up soon...

Every now and then I repurpose clothing and these three items, i.e. the green duffel coat, the rose skirt and the babydoll top, are perfect examples of three repurposing exercises.
It goes with this green and white striped tee
and this green and white ditsy floral skirt

I've also paired a short gathered skirt with it that has a pink rose pattern and those emerald green leaves, which should go perfectly with the green of the coat!
Here's the rose skirt which I repurposed from a long skirt four sizes too small and just above the knees right now with the black waistband added...
and here's a babydoll top with left over material from the skirt and matching yoyos to cover up a nailpolish spill on the tank top...

Can't wait to wear the green duffel coat and rose skirt outfit soon, with or without the babydoll top!
