A close look at Karl Lagerfeld

Chanel Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld with the Karl Lagerfeld Steiff teddy bear.  Karl Lagerfeld bear is constructed from white alpaca wool and stands an impressive 15 inches tall and in true Lagerfeld fashion sports a black and white suite, aviator sunglasses and even a  “K L” rhinestone-encrusted belt buckle.

Speaking of his ursine alter ego, Lagerfeld explained “I really love animals, particularly when they are stuffed with cotton or polyester,” said the ever-quotable designer. “That way you can guarantee that they won’t bite, won’t claw, won’t smell bad and make your things dirty.”
Even so, last year Karl Lagerfeld shared that he would marry his little Persian cat Choupette if it marriage between animals and humans was legally allowed…

The Hamburg-born Karl Lagerfeld also celebrated his 80th birthday on September 10, 2013.
